Best gift I ever got: When I was eight years old, one of my uncles gave me miniature animal figurines as a Christmas present. It was such a magical moment.
Favourite memory: Eating watermelon with my Dad at the side of the highway beside one of his 18-wheelers just south of Dawson Creek.
Misconception about me: That I don’t know much. Oh, wait, I don’t.
Guilty Pleasure: Gummy bears.
Favourite Activities: Hanging out with family and friends. Politics. Scrabble and KenKen. Reading fiction. Watching Netflix. Cross-stitch. Duplicate Bridge.
Preferred superpower: Being able to cook. Yes, I consider that a superpower.
Me in five words or less: Short and feisty.
Pet peeves: People who feel entitled; broken or inefficient social systems; packaging that is difficult to open.

Victoria M

CTO

Best gift I ever got: An iPad etched with Steve Jobs’ signature for being part of the team that launched the iPad.

Preferred superpower: The ability to never require sleep.

Best part of my job: Learning. Even if you think you know a topic, someone else can give you a new way to think about it that blows your mind.

My hero: Justin Trudeau. I know I’ll get grief from my family in Alberta for saying that, but he’s fearless and has changed the way Canada is viewed internationally.

Quirky fact about me: I have one tattoo. It is of a Norwegian dragon for my Norwegian ancestry, and I was born in the year of the dragon.

Anagha Garde

Software Quality Team Lead

Quirky fact about me: I overthink about almost everything.
Personal motto: Work Hard, Party Harder.
Preferred superpower: Teleportation.
I can often be found: At the park playing with my toddler.
Pet peeves: People not showing up on time.

Joey Godin

Software Quality Analyst

Quirky fact about me: My grandfather on my Dad’s side had 17 siblings and my family reunions are exactly as chaotic as you’d think. That’s too many, for the record. I love them all. They all live in one town. It makes dating really awkward.

Best gift I ever got: A preteen girl once thought I looked upset and gave me a very crude drawing of a hug. Still have that kicking around. People are sweet sometimes.

Guilty pleasure: Cartoons, in general. Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones and such are all great shows, modern drama is better than ever. But it’s super relaxing to laugh at something stupid and feel like a kid again.

Secret talent: Reciting most any episode of the first 10 or so seasons of the Simpsons by heart. We watched that a lot in my family.

Pet peeves: Explaining anything twice to someone if I know I made it clear, and people standing in front of the doors when others are trying to get on the train. Both because they know how this works and they clearly chose not to care.

Bailey Ratcliffe

Software Quality Analyst

Best gift I ever got:  My first computer when I was around 10, 11, or 12. I still have certain parts from that computer to this day that I use in my current rig.

Guilty pleasure:   $5 giant Kitkat bars. Sometimes I just can’t resist.

Secret talent: I type at a speed of 120 words-per-minute and I’ve never practiced this ‘talent’ at all. It just came naturally to me over time.

Me in five words or less:  “He’s not all there.” I tend to lose myself in my own thoughts quite often. I have a lot going on in my head and it can make me forgetful at times.

Pet peeves:  Hot days, small yappy dogs and people who misuse or mispronounce words consistently. Like when people say “Nuclear” as “Nucular” or “Espresso” as “Expresso,” things like that.

Darren Yip

Software Quality Analyst

Personal motto: ”You need a place to go every day,” and “Find the torture you’re comfortable with.” I like simple bits of wisdom that can be found on YouTube interviews of famous people (often comedians).

Quirky fact about me: In the mid 90’s I watched the movie Jurassic Park at least 10 times in the span of a year.

Preferred superpower: To play any sport like a professional athlete, and not get seriously hurt.

Favourite activities: Walking the dog. Repeatedly attempting to learn Chinese. Watching Bob Ross paint on Netflix. Playing table tennis helps me focus, but not think too much. It’s a good feeling.

Pet peeves:  When the bus driver opens all the doors on the bus to let people in and I have skipped taking an earlier bus in order to be at the front of the line to get a good seat.

Software Quality Analyst

Misconception about me:     Most people think I am way younger than I am . At least I hear it a lot .

Best gift I ever got:  The soccer ball my aunt gave me when I was young and on vacation with my parents in Eastern Europe. I guess it’s because they are semi-poor there and she still gave me a present.

Preferred superpower:  Flying

Quirky fact about me:   Some people say I have an accent but I can’t hear it

Pet peeves:  People who are always stating their opinions. I guess it is hard to avoid having one.

Cameron

Software Quality Analyst

Misconception about me: I’m a real easygoing guy and I don’t worry a lot, so people tend to think that I don’t take things seriously. I do, I just don’t stress about it.

Personal motto: “Hakuna Matata” – It means no worries.

Guilty Pleasure: Memes.

Favourite escape: I immerse myself in things that I love. Video games, internet, good fun and good company. What’s life for, if not enjoying it?

Favourite part of the job: Seeing all the issues my bug reports get tacked on to. I love marveling at all the ways things can go wrong. It’s a surreal experience, seeing first-hand how our modern world hangs by just a few threads.

Jeff

Software Quality Analyst

Quirky fact about me:  I’m actually on my third Smartwatch right now, an ASUS ZenWatch 2.

Guilty pleasure:  Chocolate

Me in five words or less:  Not your typical Asian nerd

Preferred superpower:  The ability to grant any of my wishes whenever and however I want.

Pet peeves:  Discrimination, inequality, close-mindedness. Also dubs; I prefer multimedia in their original language because dubs tend to get the tone of voice and other details wrong.

Laura Norman

Data Quality Technician

Misconception about me: I’m very quiet, so people tend to assume I’m much more shy than I really am. I just find speaking very draining.

Favourite memory: Meeting Patrick Warburton at a wrap party my sister invited me to. Apparently he thinks I’m charming.

Preferred superpower: The ability to shapeshift

Favourite things: Dogs, chocolate, coffee, pasta, horror movies, books

Pet peeves: Loud noises, being touched, inconsiderate/rude people

Han-Lin Yong

Data Quality Technician

Quirky fact about me: I have my own blog and YouTube channel. Also, I fitted my bicycle with a car horn and my helmet with custom built lights and a camera.

Guilty pleasure: Using the car horns on my bicycle.

Preferred superpower: Time travelling, especially if I’ve made a mistake

Favourite activities: Web surfing, designing electronic circuits, reading blogs

Favourite room in house: Garage because that’s where my workshop is

Aryy

Data Quality Technician

Misconception about me: People often assume I am younger and more naive than I actually am. I think a combination of looks, speech and mannerisms maybe give that impression.

What inspires me: I think when I am working against the odds, proving people wrong. I often get inspiration from that.

Secret talent: I can learn things on my own. I learned some French on my own, I am learning Spanish right now. I’m learning the guitar on my own these days, too.

Best part of my job: I get to work with minimal supervision. Nobody micromanages me at my job

Quirky fact about me: I can snap my fingers with each finger and make each one make a noise. Even the pinky.
